A Noodle House . . . in Austin????
There, I said it.
There is a Noodle House in Austin.
Well, in fact, there are several. But not all of them are worthy of the title. However, this weekend on our trip to China (well, that’s what we told our three-year-old “We’re going to China” . . . he couldn’t tell the difference) we stopped at a place that I will begin to frequent.
TC Noodle House is in the Chinatown Shopping Center on N. Lamar. I have to say, this is a place that I have been looking for, well for a while to be honest. The food was very authentic, even down to the BBQ Pork Buns (a treat I have not enjoyed since my last trip to Singapore). We ordered quite a bit of food – 3 appetizers and 2 mains for two people – and the bill was even reasonable ($28 tax included). And although we got some funny looks from the wait staff on the amount of food we ordered, it was well worth it. There are some other Noodle Houses in the same complex which we will try over time.
TC Noodle House has an extensive menu printed in English, Chinese and Vietnamese with a wide variety of meat and vegetarian options. You can also choose your type of noodle (or rice if you prefer). Overall, I am very impressed and loved my lunch there.
Oh, and if for some reason your 3 year old demands to have the ‘Tomato Sauce’ from the bottle on the table. Don’t give in. First, its not ‘Tomato Sauce’. And second, the faces your child will make are not ‘cute’. (Although, I have to admit, it was a little funny. Yeah, I’m evil. Read the previous blog.)
